practice
bàng nhất linh (b. 1983, hanoi) is a vietnamese contemporary artist whose practice probes memory, history, and the depths of psychological space. born in khâm thiên — a neighbourhood deeply marked by the vietnam war — he developed an early interest in war memorabilia, which he collects and repositions within new contexts to create interactive, communicable objects. his works are often simple yet multi-layered, dreamlike and humane. notable projects include 'the vacant chair' (2015), shown at MoT+++, nha san collective, and the mori art museum as part of 'sunshower: contemporary art from southeast asia 1980s to now' (2017), and 'summer grasses' (2018). he graduated from the vietnam university of fine arts (2005) and is affiliated with the nguyen art foundation and post vidai collection.
