Michael Atavar

Michael Atavar is an artist working in text, performance, Virtual Reality, photography, books and audio. Since 2013 he has developed and designed eight projects: ‘Systematic Prophetics’ (2025-ongoing), ’Divergent Procedures’ (2023-4) both online systems, ‘Dostoyevsky Balancing Technique (D.B.T.)’ (2024) a photographic process, ’Walk Towards The Big Sun’ (2022) a 24 hour novel, ‘OMETHR’ (2020) and ‘ESPELIDES’ (2018) both iPhone apps, ’UWRMA’ (2020) a Twitter bot and ‘210CARDS’ a two-pack card deck (the latter with Miles Hanson).

He’s also written six books about creativity ‘Looking At Art (With Your Eyes Closed) Michael Atavar’s Creative Courses From Tate’ (2019), ‘Being Creative’ (2018), ‘How To Have Creative Ideas in 24 Steps – Better Magic’ (2016), ‘Everyone Is Creative’ (2013), ’12 Rules Of Creativity’ (2011) and ‘How To Be An Artist’ (2009), covering the areas of process, individual practice, generating ideas and group dynamics. ‘Being Creative’ (Quarto, 2018) was translated into eight languages.

At A. Farm he will be working with systems-based methodologies to develop prototypes for a new digital project.
