Both Nikola and Writher are known to approach sound as a raw, open terrain for exploration, at the same time, they challenge what music could be. Nikola crafts intricate mechanical soundscapes through custom-built Max/MSP software and live feedback manipulations. Meanwhile, Writher’s music presents a maddening world brought together by noise, tape and digital processing.
Placing two rather different sonic personalities, MoTsound #25 is hoped to offer boundary-pushing music lovers of Saigon a night of unpredictability and intense emotions 🔥

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Behind the soundless moniker • • • hides Swiss sound artist now based in Hanoi, Vietnam – Nikola H. Mounoud. Nikola has devoted nearly two decades to research and practice in the field of live sound making, processes in real time analog, digital and hybrid feedback in order to produce unique, powerful and highly dynamic sound live performances. Working with only a laptop, using a custom made software based on MAX/MSP as well as an analog mixer, his practice interweaves irresponsible sounds, unexpected dense sonic blasts, sharp textures where complete non-sense and deep irrationality meets, allowing both the audience and the performer to absorb an unleashed raw beauty of frequencies wrath. He has developed a tailored approach in live performance, in which he can make the most of an acoustic and sound system in that space.

Writher (Nguyen Hong Giang) is a Vietnamese producer, composer, and label head, currently based in Saigon. With 11 years of training at the Ho Chi Minh Conservatory behind him, he now works primarily with experimental noise music.
Writher embodies an adventurous approach to making music, exploring sound generation through a variety of approaches and techniques. His arsenal includes computer, software, synthesis, tape manipulation, recordings, acoustic instruments, and analog effects. Writher employs his custom software, termed “The Architect,” for control, manipulation, and arrangement.
Giang Records, a label that Writher founded in 2011, has shared his extensive output. Operating at the nexus of rock, soundtrack music, hip hop, and electronic music, Giang Records’ catalogue distills Writher’s affinities for video games, distortion, dark ambient, and black metal into a dynamic discography.
