Nguyễn Giao Xuân

After obtaining a Degree in Painting from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts in 2015, Nguyen Giao Xuan began working in branding and communication design. It was during COVID-19 that she was prompted to reflect on her own artistic practice and was forced her to rethink her future career. From then on, Nguyen Giao Xuan has focused on exploring and developing her research on painting, as well as her own practice. In 2023, her work “Parade Atmosphere” was shown alongside other colleagues under the Emerging Artist category exhibition of the inaugural UOB Painting of The Year competition. Since 2023, Nguyen Giao Xuan has been pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts, with a thesis focusing on the theme of “Contemporaneity in the Early 21st Century Vietnamese Painting.”

During her upcoming residency at A. Farm, Nguyen Giao Xuan hopes to continue her on-going experiment with materials and methods of traditional painting, and to combine them with her reflections and observation in contemporary society. For Nguyen Giao Xuan, the programme will also serve as a bridge to connect her with the community of art practitioners in Ho Chi Minh City and internationally, offering her a multidimensional perspective on contemporary artistic practice.
