We are pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition ‘Hypnotising Chickens: Recent Video Art from Vietnam and Tasmania’. This is a partnership project between Contemporary Art Tasmania and Saigon Experimental, presented in Nipaluna/Hobart, Tasmania and Saigon, Vietnam. The project brings together 12 artists from both locations within a video screening program that includes many formats: experimental film, essay film, animation, performance documentation and music video. ‘Hypnotising Chickens’ — invoking an induced trance-like state where the mind constantly slips between reality and unreality — attempts to survey the myriad ways in which artists from both places engage with the medium of moving image, while simultaneously reflecting on the act of viewing in this screen-saturated age.
