Dương Tử Quế, a Danang-born and Saigon-based image-maker and independent art organiser
Quế’s practice focuses on personal adaptation and projection of images and symbols that lie beyond the individual based on photography (or other media that function by storing and visualizing in unconsciousness) while validating the mechanism for tracing (pseudo)scientific grounds. Because his main medium is digital art such as photography, design, and video art, he always figures out how to physicalize his digital works using various methods to create the diverse interactions of the works to the space.
Quế is interested in the function of media, especially those that can create (or contain) communication (such as photography with the storage capacity to recall–contrast–perceive –illusion) to talk about the structure of discourse in (semi) free spaces. Then adapt to the paradigm of mass media – communication for individuals operating in the contemporary digital space. From his personal works made as he matured alongside urban development, Quế started to focus on other existants from outside through research information–research essays about events that collaborate poetry–prose works as the main material.
During his time at A. Farm, Quế will trace the colonial past of Nhieu Loc–Thi Nghe canal to its current state.
