Hoàng Vũ aka somethingmaker
Vũ is a spontaniously artist, practicing through painting, poetry, visual, video-game, carpentry, music,…
It came from not having a physical space to do painting, while the desire to create a more immense, comprehensive and abstract space increased. At the end of 2022, Vu threw himself into the sonic-field.
Played at Gãy no.17, released his first EP “Mangrove” at NightSwim (The Observatory Saigon), also Saigon Community Radio, Cù Rú Bar, IntoArt Forest.
His sound focuses on the atmospheric, the ecosystem between the speakers, insect-characteristics, air and water, organic and non-organic. He’s not only looking for what he mean to play, but also about during the tracks, it’s progressing itself and surprise him too, like putting fishes in a tank and looking it swimming.
The musical is blended into the background,
be the base and make room for field recordings,
for blender experiments,
for happy-accidents of generator,
for granular disintegration
and fluctuation of digital algorithms
evolving.

“Electricity is what separates us from animals” – Thurston Moore
Scientist-artist Daniel Maszkowicz uses electric signals and electromagnetic fields with analogue electronic feedback and uncommon sensors. With a multichannel surround set-up, he immerses his audience in a subtle hypnosis of low-frequency immersions and sonified brainwaves. Running sound experiments in his sensory laboratory, he qualitatively studies psychoacoustic and binaural effects on consciousness, with a specific orientation towards the use of electricity.

Field Recordings
sound as communication in direct and primal form, a language, a tool of metaphysics, a conscience and a consciousness, vibration. dp re/searches and ponders existences and behaviourisms humanimalistically. works that oppose the omnipresent restriction and
reduction of life and living, that activate primordial shared emotions otherwise hidden under the debris of civilisation, inviting rumination, encouraging intervention, endorsing catharsis, liberating, cleansing. therapeutical stimulation is acknowledged.
dp might touch topics such as sentient perception and awareness, environmental sensitisation, existentialism and existential e/quality, but it’s also how these and related topics interconnect that interests, the hyperconnectivity some call chaos.
the field recordings set uses raw recordings made in national parks, nature reserves and non-human habitats, mostly in hot, tropical or desert climates, of insects, amphibians, avians, mammals, weather and climate phenomena. individual tracks are layered and mixed into a
composition. no effects, loops or any other manipulations are applied. this set is played in darkness to enhance the acoustic sense. at the end of the set a leaflet is handed out to the audience relating the importance of the insect world for all life and planetary health.
Mei Zhiyong CN
Noise of Python
Mei Zhiyong is one of the most active Harsh Noise artists in China. He creates unique noise effects by making a large number of noise generators and modifying industrial instruments. His noise works are known for their exaggerated, dangerous, and extreme characteristics. His live performances are full of physical language and tense atmosphere, bringing audiences a shocking audio-visual experience.
Since 2007, Mei Zhiyong has performed in more than 400 shows in mainland China, Japan, neighboring countries, Europe, and other countries, and has released over 40 solo albums and collaborative albums with different artists. He is the founder of the earliest tape label in China, Fuzztape, and initiated China’s largest noise art festival, A Bunch of Noise, in 2023, planning to hold it every year. He is also one of the most active noise event organizers in China, organizing China tours for experimental noise art festivals in multiple countries.
In addition to exploring noise creation, Mei Zhiyong attempts to explore the relationship between life and death and the relationship between noise and nature. His works express the pursuit of vitality and energy, and his noise works challenge traditional art as an extreme, unconventional, and avant-garde art form aimed at exploring and expressing the diversity and complexity of the world. As a mechanical engineer, he also runs a machine factory specializing in producing industrial equipment. He uses the machinery and some special instruments in the factory to initiate a project called “fuzzbox”, inviting other artists to reside in his factory and explore the fusion of industrial production and noise art through experimentation.
